Dig out of it ~

April: it will weigh on you.
I know, I know. It is not what you want to hear.
It isn’t what I want to hear, either.
But here we are, listening to the same tune.
And you know, sometimes it feels good to be weighed on, & I think it could be good to feel some of this month’s weight upon us, to slow us down a bit, to help us pause & really rest when we need it.
The other side of this is that things will be happening on delay, maybe with some sort of detour, maybe it will just feel like you are gnawing at the same bone over & over again.
Springtime is full of forward momentum & all kinds of invitations but we are being asked to put one foot in front of the other here before rushing forth. We modern folk like to go quickly, to get things done. This month is not that, April is more about carving out your own time your own space your own structure.
Spades are always structural: they are the bones of the body, the skeletal system. And eights represent hopes, wishes, dreams & also their flip side: fears, despairs, apprehensions.
The interesting aspect of this month is that it will have this sculptural quality to it. And this is where I recommend mooring your energy. Anchor into April by becoming a sculptor. You have your tools: eight spades & a mass of earth before you, ready to be carved & shaped by your energetic hand & your great vision: your dream.
What I am saying is that this is not a time to fall back to sleep but a time to follow the dream out towards the open air & you can do this by committing to your hopes & intentions & by being willing to restructure your life accordingly, when & where & how you are able.
It is a slow process, this carving, but it is worth it. And the sculpting will take consideration & pause & process, sometimes reassessing & so these are the words you might return to when you feel a little lost or anxious.
You are becoming mountainous: sturdy, strong, formidable, full of deep diamonds & windy wildflowers. And you are the one carving the caverns & crevasses of this mountain. Turn towards yourself, touch in with intention, & start shaping.
April is a sculpture. Follow your vision, use your tools, create something epic & entirely yours. Go slowly, be in process, take a deep breath. The way out is through.

Friends, last month I went on a short tour with my soundwork. The last show I performed was in a newly opened gallery called Sara’s Worldwide in Manhattan as part of Nick Klein’s monumental month-long exhibit Bring the Flowers to the Theater.
That night, I played with two lovely friends, Glyn Maier & Alene Marie. It was the perfect note to end my tour on & felt like a true culmination of all the shows I had played leading up to it. I even was reunited with my shadow!
Footage from that performance has officially been archived & you can find it along with all the other performances that happened during the month of March. Follow me ~

Okay, now, onto this month’s almanac…
Which, by the by, is a special edition in that it features a beautiful offering from poet Jameela Dallis.
Enjoy ~
